My thoughts on the book Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx
The Heroin Diaries- A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star by Nikki Sixx I'm sure some of you have heard of Nikki Sixx! He is the bassist and co-founder of one of Rock n Rolls loudest, meanest band in history, Motley Crue. I asked for this book for Christmas and I am glad I got it! The book is made up of journal entries made by Nikki while he spent numerous nights locked inside his Van Nuys mansion doped up on various drugs mixed together and injected into his veins. The journals entries start at Christmas of 1986 with Nikki discussing being naked and holding a shotgun under the Christmas tree, and follows along on his world wide tour for the album Girls Girls Girls. Side notes and commentary from Nikki's Band mates, tour managers, girlfriends, other rock stars, and even his drug dealers are spread throughout the book. This book is very well written and has a very graphical edge to it. The pages are full of exclusive images of Nikki and other famous rock stars. The pages of the book are done in a torn edge look with paint splashes on the pages. This book is hard copy book and be sure to pick up its own 13 song soundtrack which includes Nikki's new Bands Hit song by Sixx A.M. called Life is beautiful. Nikki is clean and sober these days and still producing some very cool music, and has started a foundation to help drug addicts with recovery. Part of the proceeds from this book are going to his charity. If you have a chance to read this book do so!
